GPBA School or Program Membership

It is the role of the GPBA to distinguish schools and programs within the field of Breathwork who have shown to uphold the highest of standards. By becoming a GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork School or Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program, you are signaling to the Breathwork community as a substantiated training program through compliance of our Ethical & Training Standards.

Additionally, graduates of GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork Schools are automatically eligible for GPBA Practitioner Certification.

Schools and programs also receive special benefits, including access to a growing international community of exceptional Breathwork practitioners and schools.

GPBA Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program

  • Name listed in GPBA Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program directory
  • Digital badge and certificate for Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program

  • Access to members-only community forums
  • Eligible to post events/workshops
  • Eligible to submit blog posts (coming soon!)

Minimum Requirements GPBA membership requirements differ depending on the type of membership and certification. Visit the Training Standards and Ethical Standards for all requirements.

GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork School

Director Requirements

  • The Director of the School must be a GPBA Certified Breathwork Practitioner in good standing.

Operational Requirements

  • The school must have been teaching using a GPBA-approved curriculum for at least two years prior to application.

Curriculum Requirements

A GPBA-approved curriculum must include:

  • A minimum of 400 hours of Breathwork training, including a minimum of 8 hours of Ethics instruction
  • Delivered over at least two years
  • Full compliance with GPBA Training Standards
  • Adherence to the GPBA Code of Ethics

Practice Requirements

  • Supervision and client-work components must be included.

GPBA Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program

Director Requirements

  • The Program Director must hold active GPBA membership at the Ethically Compliant or Certified Practitioner level.

Operational Requirements

  • The program must have been teaching using a GPBA-approved curriculum for at least 18 months prior to application.

Curriculum Requirements

A GPBA-approved Ethically Compliant Program must include:

  • A minimum of 50 hours of Breathwork training, including a minimum of 8 hours of Ethics instruction
  • Delivered over at least 9 months
  • Adherence to the GPBA Code of Ethics

Practice Requirements

  • Must include appropriate client-work and supervision in alignment with GPBA training guidelines.

Endorsement Requirement

An endorsement must be provided by one of the following:

  • A licensed psychotherapist or counselor
    OR
  • A GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork Practitioner who is the Director of a GPBA Certified Breathwork School

Applying for GPBA Membership

If your training program or school meets the 400 hr/2 yr training requirement… you may apply for GPBA Certified Professional Breathwork School certification and membership.

Annual fee: varies, dependent on size of school

$150 for small schools, less than 25 students a year
$250 for mid-size schools, 25-100 students a year
$400 for larger schools, 100+ students a year
Application fee: $50

If your training program offers at least 50 hours of Breathwork training and 8 hours of ethics training… you may apply for GPBA Ethically Compliant Breathwork Program certification and membership.
